Black and White
Black and white
birds with charcoal
chicks waddle on
black sand beach,
white continent at
the bottom of the
world. There are
wild places still.
Blue Ice
The blue is spectacular
an aqua pure as imagination
on frozen white, as if snow
angels went wild with
buckets of clearest sky
or tropical dream seas.
Here on the face of an
iceberg the magic of
light, heaven's blue.
I wonder if the Titanic's
iceberg was blue.
Beautiful photograph and words PEggy. The ending "There are wild places still." is so reassuring to me. Bob taught me about the holy and healing nature of wildness and I cherish it. Your poem and photo affirm that holiness.
ReplyDeleteYou bring Antarctica alive with your photographs and your words!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful and vivid by themselves but with the photo..wow! Love the angels with their buckets.
ReplyDeleteThe penguins look so warmly fun and the icebergs look so starkly cold. What a contrast.
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful, Peggy. You've written about the elemental sources of solace in an empty place.
ReplyDeleteLove that there are "wild places still" Your journey must have been magical, as shows in your poetry and your photography. Simply life, from an artists eye.
